Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, will enchant you with its friendly atmosphere, the historic heart of the city, beautiful architecture, lots of greenery, and the clean Baltic Sea.

The historic Old Town (Vanalinn), included in the UNESCO list of heritage sites, is the main tourist attraction. It consists of a tangle of narrow cobbled medieval streets, old merchant and guild houses, and historic courtyards. Once there, visit the Town Hall Square (Raekoja plats) with the Town Hall (Raekoda) and the Town Hall Tower, which is the dominant feature of the entire town. You can also check out one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, the Town Hall Pharmacy (Raeapteek), which has been operating since 1422. Other attractions in the area comprise the Great Sea Gate, which was used to enter the harbour in the Middle Ages, and the open-air museum (Vabaöhumuuseum), where you can learn about the life in the Estonian countryside in the past.

A popular place which you should definitely not miss is the Toompea Hill with the Toompea Castle. The city park of Kadriorg Parg, the botanical garden by the Pirita River, or the Pirita Tee coastal promenade lure you to take a walk and relax surrounded by nature.
