Cairo, the capital of Egypt, whose history goes back to the tenth century AD, will impress you with its rich history, beautiful architecture, and great cuisine. The historic part of the city is included in the UNESCO cultural heritage list. Once there, you should visit the Egyptian Museum with the rarest Egyptian excavations, the archaeological area of Heliopolis, and the Al-Azhar Mosque, which is one of the oldest mosques in the Islamic world.

Then take a walk through the historic district of Coptic Cairo, where the Roman walls and towers can still be admired. Other interesting sights include the Cairo Citadel located at the foot of the Mokattam Hills, with the famous Muhammad Ali Mosque. In the heart of the Islamic quarter of Cairo, you can visit the medieval bazaar and the Khan al-Khalilí market.

A beautiful view of the entire city is to be had from the Cairo Tower, from which you can observe, among other things, the pyramids of Giza, specifically Khufu’s (Cheops), Rachef’s, and Menkaure’s. When you’ve had enough of the sights, take a boat ride on the Nile or just relax in the Al-Azhar Park.
