Poznań, one of the oldest Polish cities, is a paradise for lovers of history, secular buildings, and beautiful nature. Start with a walk around Starý Rynek, the main square, with its goat clock and narrow and colourful merchant houses from the 16th century. You will also find there the symbol of Poznań, the Renaissance Town Hall, which houses the Museum of the History of the City of Poznań. Also, don’t skip the Działyński Palace and the Franciscan Church with its beautiful frescoes and dragon sculptures. Another place worth seeing is one of the oldest Polish cathedrals, the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, on Tumsk Island on the Warta River. After all the sightseeing, you can relax in the Maltańskie thermal spa or in the beautiful Cytadela Park, which is located north of the city centre. In addition to nature, there is also a military museum, the remains of some fortifications, and military cemeteries. You can also try traditional Polish cuisine, for example, Pierogy (traditional stuffed dumplings), sausages, Kaszanka black pudding with buckwheat, and Sernik cottage cheese dessert.
