Prague Airport is proud to host a new unique exhibition of glass and wooden sculptures by leading Czech artists. Visitors and passengers can now admire the exceptional works of world-renowned sculptors Vlastimil Beránek, Pavel Baxa, Jaroslav Prošek, and Ela Smrček, which decorate the airport premises.

These artistic gems are from one of the world’s most extensive collections of crystal and subfossil sculptures, managed by the Crystal Caviar company. The exhibited master collection features sculptures made from molten glass in a mould and monumental wooden sculptures created from 6,500-year-old subfossil oak. The works of art are displayed in the public area of Terminal 3 and in the airport lounges.

Marek Hornych, Director of Customer Experience at Prague Airport, said about the exhibition: “Livening up our interior in this way makes sense. As an international airport, we are the Czech gateway to the world. The exhibition conveys a symbolism that Czech art and craftsmanship are world-class. We are excited that we can make our premises special with art that represents the long-standing tradition of Czech glassmaking. Thanks to our cooperation with Crystal Caviar, we can offer passengers an extraordinary experience even before they take off from our airport to go explore the world.”

World-renowned Czech Artists

Vlastimil Beránek’s sculptures are characterised by elementary simplicity free of tiny details which look perfect from all angles. In their extreme forms, at times, they reach the very limits of the technology applied. The works of Jaroslav Prošek are typical of the use of several different techniques, and as a talented artist he is gradually building a name in the Czech Republic and abroad. Pavel Baxa’s artworks are masterfully crafted. Each piece is a testament to Pavel's skilled use of materials and his exceptional eye for detail. In addition to his larger works, Pavel also crafts exquisite pieces of jewellery. Ela Smrček specialises in sculptures made from molten glass in a mould which are aesthetically simple, yet full of hidden insinuations. Ela has always been fascinated by nature’s ability to give her inner peace and energy.

“The exhibition at Václav Havel Airport Prague is a wonderful opportunity to show the beauty of exceptional sculptures by important Czech artists to the Czech and international public. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the entire team of Prague Airport, we managed to create a truly unique exhibition, which we as Czechs can be proud of.Visitors have the opportunity to see with their own eyes the masterpieces of modern Czech sculpture, while for the artist, it is a huge honour to have their works exhibited in such a prestigious place.” Marek Landa, owner of the Crystal Caviar company, said about the exhibition.

The exhibition at Václav Havel Airport Prague not only beautifies its interiors, but also brings inner peace and an artistic experience to all who visit the airport.
