Prague Airport has recognised the five best airlines of the past year in five categories. Ryanair defended its title as the Fastest Growing Airline, while Finnair was voted the Best Performing Airline in terms of traffic for the third time in a row. Wizz Air was granted the title of Top Sustainable Airline, and China Airlines received the award for the Best Airline Marketing Campaign with Prague Airport. Qatar Airways achieved the greatest growth in air cargo transport. Representatives of the individual airlines accepted the awards at a gala evening in the Fanta building in Prague.

"At the airport, we connect continents, cities, people, stories. But we are not alone in this. This works well primarily thanks to the excellent cooperation with our key partners – airlines. Last year, we handled the third largest volume of passengers in history, almost 16.4 million, and offered connections to a total of 181 destinations. We greatly appreciate the airlines which operate at our airport, and we were happy to acknowledge those carriers that contributed the most to our common success last year – whether through operational performance, marketing activities or sharing our environment-friendly values,” Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, said.

Ryanair became the Fastest Growing Airline at Václav Havel Airport Prague for the second time in a row. In 2024, the carrier achieved the highest year-on-year increase in the total number of transported passengers.

Prague Airport also awarded the title of the Best Performing Airline in terms of traffic in the previous year. This category recognises the achievement of the best results in selected operational indicators, such as punctuality, compliance with operating procedures, and the speed of baggage unloading. Only carriers that completed at least one hundred aircraft movements from July to December last year were included in the evaluation. This corresponds to approximately two flights per week during the specified period. This category was won by Finnair for the third time in a row.

An award was also presented in the sustainability category, where air carriers are assessed for reducing noise and emission loads, as well as commitments and activities in the field of environmental responsibility. Per the expert evaluation, considering all criteria, Wizz Air received first place.

Among the marketing campaigns realised by Prague Airport in cooperation with airlines last year, the China Airlines campaign to promote a direct connection between Prague and Taipei was voted the best. The winner was selected by an independent jury comprising marketing and tourism experts, who assessed the creative processing of visuals, the originality of the message, and the promotion of the Prague Airport brand and Prague as a destination.

For the second time in its history, Prague Airport has honoured the fastest growing carrier in the air cargo segment. Last year’s performance of carriers resulted in victory for Qatar Airways.

This year, according to the current forecast, Prague Airport should handle approximately 18.4 million passengers, which would be the best operating result in the airport's history. It is expected that passengers will be able to fly from Václav Havel Airport Prague to more than 190 destinations, with individual routes operated by around 80 airlines.
