16. 3. 2022Full HD image, pilots' communication with the control tower, current photographs of aircraft and details of individual flights the moment they are in view – this is exactly what has been offered by the live stream from the main runway of Václav Havel Airport Prague for over two years. Since its launch via the YouTube channel of Prague Airport and the Mall.tv. internet television in February 2020, the online stream has had almost 14 million views. Interest in watching it is growing in our country and abroad. "It is a unique solution worldwide. The public has a rare opportunity to watch the departures and arrivals of their loved ones when travelling to discover new horizons, and to learn interesting information from the operation of Prague Airport, including details on registration marks and types of aircraft or destinations where they are headed,” Pavlína Musilová, Prague Airport Marketing Manager said. The stream is available online 24/7 thanks to a camera located near the 06/24 main runway, which is specially designed for outdoor feed shooting, has an auxiliary night light, heating, and a wiper. The live stream is complemented by authentic communications between the cockpit crews and air traffic controllers. Individual take-offs and landings can be replayed several hours back to show all the movements on the runway. The TOP 5 nationalities that enjoy watching the stream are Czechs, viewers from the United Kingdom, Germany, India, and followers from Brazil."We have future plans with our live stream. We would like to add a second camera which would automatically monitor the movement of individual aircraft. We are currently looking for a suitable location. We are also thinking about offering cuts of interesting types of aircraft or livery, which we would then stream at night,” Pavlína Musilová added. The airport also shares the live stream with passengers, broadcasting it in the Terminal 1 Relax Zone, and at the viewing deck by the Runway Restaurant. The average daily traffic on Youtube counts six thousand unique viewers, with a 96% positive rating of the stream. Fans watch the feed on computers, mobile phones, and on smart TV, which is the preferred device of almost 30 percent of viewers. The live stream is also available via the special subpage of the airport website prg.aero, focused on Plane-spotting.Aviation enthusiasts will not be deprived of the live stream even during the closure of the main runway from 28 March to 1 July 2022. We will offer the viewers operation on the secondary 12/30 runway in the standard mode.Follow us on Prague Airport’s Twitter feed @PragueAirport.
