Prague Airport’s Aviation Business Development Team won the prestigious Routes World Award 2024 in the category of airports handling 10 to 20 million passengers a year. The award reflects the airport’s results in the fields of air connections development, marketing support, and overall cooperation with air carriers. In the final vote of the jury of airline representatives, Prague Airport surpassed the international airports of Calgary, Hamburg, Edinburgh, and Budapest in its category.

“We greatly appreciate that our airline partners acknowledge our hard work and results, and I am immensely proud of the entire Prague Airport Aviation Business Development team, which made this wonderful achievement possible. There is a lot of quality work behind it. Over the course of this year, we managed to secure connections to more than 170 destinations in cooperation with air carriers. In the past 12 months, we have expanded our partner pool by 14 airlines and launched 58 new routes. Thanks to continued great cooperation with carriers, we managed to get the frequency of flights increased on more than 40 routes, which resulted in a nearly 30% year-on-year increase in the number of handled passengers during the reported period. However, we see this award not only as a confirmation of our own achievements, but primarily as a motivation to continue building important strategic partnerships. Therefore, big thanks are owed to all our airline partners who voted for us,” Jiří Vyskoč, Prague Airport Executive Director of Aviation Business Development, said.

The first place in the category of airports handling between 10 and 20 million passengers per year was awarded to Prague Airport by an expert jury of airline representatives. The evaluation included the airport's marketing activities both towards its business partners and the public. The panel of airline judges also assessed the airport's approach to the requirements of its partners on a day-to-day basis, the implemented data analysis processing to promote the development of air connections, and the overall fostering of relationships with airline partners. Prague Airport is proud to hold the prestigious Routes World Award for the third time, having won the first place in its category in 2015 and 2017. In this year's shortlist, Prague Airport beat the European airports in Hamburg, Edinburgh, and Budapest, as well as the airport in Calgary, Canada.

The prize was awarded at Routes World 2024, the largest international industry forum, where key air transport development stakeholders meet, i.e., airports, airlines, tourism support organisations, etc. This year's event was held from 6 to 8 October in Bahrain.
