Prague Gets Direct Connection to Uzbekistan after 10 Years, with Flights Offered by Qanot Sharq Airlines

Easier travel to explore Central Asia and interesting opportunities for the development of business cooperation between the Czech Republic and Uzbekistan: all this is to be possible thanks to a new regular direct connection from Prague to Tashkent offered by Qanot Sharq Airlines from 18 April 2024. Flights to the capital of Uzbekistan will be operated once a week, every Thursday. Tickets can be bought on the airline's website qanotsharq.com.

Jaroslav Filip, Prague Airport Aviation Business Director, confirmed that the connection with Uzbekistan was among this year’s priorities. “Direct flights to Tashkent have been our long-term goal. This route’s launch is the result of more than a year-long negotiation with Qanot Sharq Airlines. In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, almost 70 thousand tourists from Central Asian countries visited the Czech Republic. We expect more than 15,000 passengers to use this new route in its first year of operation. The new flights will also help facilitate the development of air cargo operations.”

Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, impresses with its modern appearance, where skyscrapers, modern shopping centers and cultural attractions are concentrated. Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, with their majestic architecture and ancient history, provide a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in long-standing traditions. The Republic of Karakalpakstan, part of Uzbekistan, attracts tourists with its unique museum named after I. Savitsky and the opportunity to see the former Aral Sea.

General Director of Qanot Sharq Airlines, Moses Pak, emphasized that the launch of the Tashkent-Prague route is the first on the list of European cities that the airline plans to open this year. He noted that the airline is proud of the continuation of good traditions established during the Great Silk Road. Moses Park expressed hope that the new route will become a starting point for a deeper mutual understanding of the cultures of both countries, strengthening friendship and the implementation of long-term business projects.

Qanot Sharq Airlines, founded in 1998, has been organizing cargo and passenger air transportation over the years. In 2021, after the abolition of the monopoly in the aviation system of Uzbekistan, the company got aircrafts, and currently there are 6 modern aircrafts in the Qanot Sharq fleet: 2 Airbus A320CEO, 2 Airbus A321NEO and 2 Airbus A330CEO.

Qanot Sharq airline operates flights to cities such as Jeddah, Medina, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Phuket, Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, Tel Aviv, Istanbul and Sharm el-Sheikh, and plans to expand flights, including destinations - Bangkok, island Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Sanya, Seoul and Shanghai.
